Miss Belly Dance South Africa 2009 was hosted and organised by Angela Angilotti from Belly Dance Goddess. This competition is guaranteed to uplift the standard of Middle Eastern Dance in our country and encourage potential participants to take part in forthcoming events. The competition took place on the 5th and 6th of September at the Jabula Recreation Centre in Sandringham, Johannesburg. In total 109 girls and ladies participated – an impressive turnout for the very first event.

Prize Voucher provided the following prizes to each participant: a spa session, a Discover Scuba experience, a dance lesson for a couple and to top it all a gym membership. The total value of each prize per participant was worth R1200.00. These prizes were a great incentive to the entrants to participate and the entrants could look forward to some much needed pampering after the finals.

Carla Grace Shepperson (15yrs) won the title of Miss Belly Dance South Africa 2009. She has a passion and flair for the dance which is rarely seen in dancers of her age. As well as the main title category, the competitors also stood the chance of winning the People’s Choice Title or Miss Congeniality. There are many talented belly dancers in every corner of our diverse country and Miss Belly Dance SA hopes to inspire these artists and allow this unique dance form to grow.
